Start by putting your hair into a centre parting, then use the comb to backcomb and tease the roots of your hair – this will create a voluminous ponytail. Then pull your hair back and up into a ponytail, don’t worry about being neat here, part of this style’s charm is its messiness! Once you’ve chosen how high you want to ponytail to sit, secure with the hair bobble. Section of a medium sized strand of hair from the bottom of the ponytail, use this to wrap around the hair bobble, secure with a kirby grip.

French Plaits

This style has shot back into fashion thanks for Kylie Jenner who regularly wears this look on Snapchat. Which is great news for us as it’s quick, easy and ideal for those when your hair is a little oily but you don’t have to time to wash it.

Start by brushing your hair to make sure it is smooth and completely tangle free. The part your hair into a centre parting from your forehead down to the nape of your neck. Repeat the following process on each side of your parting. hairstyles for when you're running lateDivide your hair into three sections at the top of your head, as if you were going to start a regular braid. Start by crossing the right section over the middle section, then cross the left section over the middle section, ensure you are pulling the sections relatively tight to create a sleeker look.

When you need to repeat the crossover of your sections add a little additional hair to the section, then cross over the right section as normal. Repeat these steps until the bottom of the head where you can continue into a regular braid. Secure with a small elastic hair tie. Repeat the whole process on the other side of the head and finish with a spritz of hairspray.

The Braided Bun

hairstyles for when you're running lateBraided buns and top knots are great twists on the well-known messy bun. For this look, all you will need are a hair bobble, kirby grips and a comb. Start by tying your hair back into a ponytail and secure with a hair bobble. Do this relatively high for a top knot. Then backcomb the ponytail, I like to do this until the hair looks fairly big for a messier result. Divide the ponytail into two, then plait each section. Use one braided section to wrap around the hair bobble and secure with a kirby grip. Then wrap the braided section in the opposite direction and again secure with a kirby grip. Finish with hairspray and smooth any flyways.
